ROC the Block – Port Norfolk

On July 15, 2026, city crews and volunteers came together for a ROC the Block community improvement event in Port Norfolk, focused on cleaning up and beautifying the neighborhood.

Parks and Recreation — Landscape Division
Crews cleared alleyways throughout the neighborhood, removing overhanging limbs, overgrown vegetation, and debris to make narrow streets safer and more accessible for pedestrians and vehicles. Along Bayview Ave., crews cleared large pieces of wood from deteriorating piers and other debris from the shoreline. A bucket truck and Prentice loader were used across the area to remove hazardous tree hangers, large limbs, and downed utility poles. In total, the division collected 70 bags of litter.

Community Cleanup
ROC the Block volunteers and staff collected an impressive 70 bags of trash from the neighborhood.

Bulk Division of Waste Management
The bulk collection team removed 6 tires and 300 pounds of bulk waste.

Sign Crew
The sign crew identified 10–15 parking signs in need of attention and completed repairs, replacements, and cleaning as needed.

Code Enforcement
As part of the event, 17 properties were cited for weed violations, 6 for inoperable motor vehicles, and 2 for property maintenance issues.
